Ronald R. Parry is a full time professional painter with studios in East Boothbay, Maine, and Gold Canyon,
Arizona. His involvement in art during the last forty years has been one of increased recognition-winning many Best of Show Awards, First Place Ribbons and two prestigious Grumbacher Gold Medals. A painting lecture and demonstration by Parry was featured on Channel 17 in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
Taking a tip from the Masters Rembrandt and Sargent, who both said “an artist is always
a student”, Parry sought to further his ability with an extended seven month trip to France (1994-1995). He painted and studied in the Loire Valley with painting trips to Brittany, Provence, and Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny. While in France his work was exhibited at the Galerie Les Marechaux, at a two-person exhibit at Galerie Les Z’Arts in Les Cerqueux sous Passavant, and at the Chateau de Maupassant in Vihiers. His trip also included visits to many major museums including the Louvre and Musee D’Orsay as he studied the classical paintings of the Masters.
Parry’s formal education includes Layton School of Art, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Center for Creative Studies in Michigan; and the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. He studied with Emile Gruppe, Don Stone, Charles Movalli, Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, and Don Demers; also at the Ecole Albert Defois in France, and Nelson Shanks’ workshop at the NY Academy of
Art.
Ron's paintings are
the outgrowth of his desire to express and record his love of nature and
the outdoors. His paintings are light, bright, and full of
hope. Because of his wonderful ability to capture the many moods
of the sea and the color, character and atmosphere of the landscape, his
scenes draw you right into the canvas. To Ron, painting is Life
and the means he has chosen to communicate and share his vision with
others.
Parry’s work can be found in corporate collections including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Michigan National Corporation, Tricon Industries in Japan, The First National Bank of Damariscotta, and in many private collections in the US, France, Great Britain and Japan. To Parry painting is more than Art: Painting is Life and the means to share his vision with others. Come visit the Parry Studio and enjoy Parry’s vision of the beauty, color and serenity of New England and the Boothbay Harbor region.
